Facts about this wine

Volume: Medium
Min. alcohol: 11.5%
Storage potential: 4 years

Alto Adige/Südtiroler Santa Maddalena DOC (St. Magdalener DOC) is made from the Schiava Grosso and/or Schiava Gentile (85-100%) grape varieties, often with Pinot Noir (0-10%) or with other local red grapes. The vines are located on impressive vineyards placed on terraces, forming an impressive amphitheater around Bolzano (Bozen).

The color of the wine ranges from light or dark ruby to garnet red. The wine has a pronounced almond and violet bouquet, which is typical of the Schiava variety, and a dry, round taste, velvety at its peak and with a pleasant, slightly bitter aftertaste. The wine is crisp, with many qualities, and often almost juicy.

Alto Adige/Südtiroler Santa Maddalena DOC reaches its peak after 3 years or even longer, depending on the producer.

If the label mentions the word "Classico" (Klassisches Ursprungsgebiet), it means that the grapes are grown in a defined area located in the oldest zone around the cities of Santa Maddalena, St. Justina, St. Peter, Leitach and Kosten along with clear specifications of the vineyard.

The aging potential is up to 4 years.
