This white wine is made from the grape bearing a part of its name, namely Traminer Aromatico, or Gewürztraminer (85-100%) which is another name of the wine, with the permitted addition of local white grapes (0-15%).

Alto Adige Valle Venosta Traminer Aromatico DOC is a straw-yellow to golden-yellow wine with a scent that varies from slightly to intensely aromatic. The taste is rich, either dry or sweet, but inviting and aromatic either way.

The wine is also known as Südtirol/Südtiroler Vinschgau Gewurztraminer DOC.

A Riserva type is also produced, with an aging period of minimum 2 years, starting with October 1st of the harvesting year. The minimum alcohol content is 11.5%.

Alto Adige Valle Venosta Traminer Aromatico DOC is also available as “Passito” or “Vendemmia Tardiva” (late harvest), in which case the grapes are dried into raisins before pressing. Both types range from semi-sweet to sweet and they are rich and harmonious. The “Passito” type must have a minimum alcohol content of 16%, whereas the “Vendemmia Tardiva” is required to have a minimum of 13.5% alcohol. Both types must age until June 1st of the year following the harvest before being released on the market.

If the label mentions “Vigna” (Gewächs or Wachstum), followed by the name of a place, it refers to a specific vineyard area or a “micro zone”.

The wine combines perfectly with seafood, liver, or soft cheeses, and the sweet type is a good accompaniment of dessert.
